Props to calahama for using the Card Creation Tool that I posted about earlier today to replicate what could be some of the new cards coming soon. There have been a few posts where some Reddit members have found images and info about new cards that are upcoming, including some of the Nilfgaard faction cards that I posted information on a couple of weeks ago. The creation tool does not have the Nilfgaard border and card backs, so he used neutral to represent them. I am unsure how accurate these will be, but it’s really cool so I am happy to share calahama’s work with our readers.
I tried to make the cards interesting and unique, while staying as true to the characters’ lore and flavors as possible. I also tried to make the cards somewhat balanced, however since there is no way to test them some of them they are probably not too balanced, especially some of the gold cards. I wrote some notes to each card, explaining ideas behind the cards that might not be super obvious, you can read them if you like.
(A lot of these card arts belong to cards that will be part of the Nilfgaard faction, but since we don’t know what their border will look like Nilfgaard can’t be chosen in the card creation so far, so I just made them neutral. You can’t classify a card as a special card yet, the flexible 0 strength cards are meant to be special cards. Also apostrophes don’t work so I just left them out in card names and descriptions).
Avallac’h the Sage (note: what’s important here is that you can choose which cards to reveal but your opponent can not, therefore you can reveal cards that don’t tell much, but your opponent might have to reveal key cards in his hand to you).
Coral: Compress (note: has a million different uses, extremely flexible and potentially gamewinning. This card might be way too strong but I think it is flavorful and really interesting).
Old Speartip and Awoken Old Speartip (note: this is one and the same card, Awoken Old Speartip simply replaces Old Speartip after 5 units are played. What’s cool here is that depending on the situation one player might want to transform speartip because he has less units, but in order to do so has to play more of his own units).
Possessed Torina (note: I don’t know what exactly this art shows and I can’t recall it’s name ever appearing in the witcher lore but it certainly looks creepy as hell).
Triss: Butterfly Spell (note: in either case this card won’t put up as much strength as other gold cards could, but it’s flexibility makes it really strong (buffing, playing a unit or clearing weather effects).
Vilgefortz (note: I’m sure people familiar with this character know that he will probably be a very unique and crazy card. This version is oviously potentially ridiculous. Note however that you sacrifice card advantage by playing him, so he is not quite as broken as he first might look).
Cahir (note: this card might deter your opponent from using their leader ability. The devs have said there will be a card that resets Nilfgaard’s leader ability, so it would be possible to keep this on the board all 3 rounds with just your own leader ability).
Celaeno Harpy (note: this one’s not spectacular, just very consistent and always solid, especially against control decks).
Dethmold (note: this card would always be solid, however if you manage to find an advatage in damaging or removing one of your own units it would be super good).
Djenge Frett (note: what’s interesting about this is that you can mark a unit that your opponent wants to decoy. If they then decoy it Djenge gets buffed and if they replay it you can remove the unit and Djenge gets buffed again. Or you could adrenaline rush him and he gets buffed at the end of the round when the marked unit goes to the graveyard either way. Also has synergy with Coral: Compress).
Imperia Brigade (note: the card that will reset your Nilfgaard leader ability will most likely look different, it will probably be a spy. However, I like the flavor of this).
Leo Bonhart (note: this card might not seem spectacular but keep in mind Vrihedd Dragoon and other handbuff cards they might add in the future and all of the sudden it becomes insane).
Letho of Gulet (note: of course I had to stay true to Letho’s story here and make him mess with the opponent’s leader. Just this card existing might force opponents to use their leader ability much earlier than they’d like or in suboptimal ways. Unlike other spies it also isn’t a great decoy target, since if they decoy it you can use your leader ability before they can play Letho).
Shaelmaar (note: the idea here is to protect a row of your choice against aoe, such as lascerate and to a certain degree weather. Would be insane with a card like Dethmold, but sadly they belong to different factions).
Vattier de Rideaux (note: this one was pretty obvious. I wouldn’t be very surprised if the actual card turns out to be exactly this).
Blizzard Potion (note: A high risk, high reward card. Might only give 3 strength, but if the unit stays alive it could also give 15 or more. Good with resilient units, adrenaline rush or the monsters passive).
Drinks for everyone (note: this would be the opposite to Stemmelford’s Tremors. A card exactly like this will probably exist at some point. Would be useable in breeder/token decks).
Nilfgaardian General (note: this card is pretty similar to Elven Mercenary, except minus the First Light fiesta and minus being able to pull silver cards. It would still be good since it can potentially chain copies of itself and thin out your deck by a few bronze cards while also putting strength on the board).
Nilfgaardian Scout (note: this card is basically a prediction. CDPR announced that Nilfgaard will have ways to spy on their opponent’s hand. It seems likely that a card, almost exactly like this one, will exist soon).
Paralyzing Thunder (note: basically just a silence effect. Again, very likely that a card like this will exist in the future).
Succubus (note: This card could get incredible value for a bronze card, it is however dependent on your opponent having a strong row and also loses to decoy. Dethmold would be the best answer imginable to it).
That’s it for now, thank you for checking these custom cards out. I spend way too much time making them and writing this, but if some of you enjoyed taking a look at it it was worth it. Have a good day everyone!
